Message from President's Desk

Hon’ble President, Members, Colleagues, stake holders and the Well Wishers.

While working for the uplift of weaker section of the community Adarsa reached an another milestone of its activities. As we know our organization is working in the remote district of Sundergarh which is far away from the civilization of the Steel city of Rourkela. When our organization started its work in the area then the people specially among the community where we are working are mostly backward in respect of health, education, skill development and others sphere of their action in the development of the self community.

But after a long intervention of 2½ decade the people and as well as area are flourishing in respect of their livelihood and settlement pattern. Our annual reports indicates our work for the annual tenure and we able to touched our aspiration according to our dream. Right from the formation of self help group now the people are working for the awareness of road safety. Micro-entrepreneurship development is one of our major program in this days and the women are becoming the self-reliant towards their source of sustained. The young women are undergoing the trade based vocational training which is also ultimately making them either employable or employment under employer. As a result following their financial earning they are now much more aware on their reproductive and sexual health. The aforesaid matter is also a result of our organization as we know that ADARSA is a Humanitarian and Right based NGO working with multi dimensional activities for the development process of communities. We aim at development of people by strengthening the self help character through a process of empowerment, for socio-economic empowerment of the people in the District of Sundergarh in the state of Odisha and to enrich the quality of the rural & tribal citizen through research action, reorganizing and reorienting their social system are the main thrust area of work. People’s participation is the key strategy of our every action and programme implementation.

Our organizations primary beneficiaries are the women and children who are vulnerable members of the family and live in a right compromised condition. For children there are additional issues that they cannot be full social and economic agents and hence they are not secure resources necessary for their survival, growth and development until a certain age. Illiteracy, low socio-economic condition, lack of awareness identifies as the influencing factors behind all those issues and ADARSA used to fight for those issues of the society. Our organization is smoothly working in the area of women empowerment, education for deprived children, self help group activities and also offered emergency services to the target community during Covid – 19 Pandemic.

ADARSA had always screened its work under the lens of social justice and equity. With a strong belief in the community’s capacities for change and sustaining development, ADARSA Foundation has supported formation of community based institutions of women- Mahila Sabhas at District levels, a Microfinance institution and several others. The Self-help Groups were formed with the idea of having strong organisations of women working towards social and economic empowerment of women in the tribal area of Sundergarh district. Some of these are sustainable and are able to play the role for which they were created. For the rest, the organisation is investing in building their capacities to run their operations in a sustainable way. Today there are 1400 self help groups are working under the support loan of Rashtriya Mahila Kosh under the platform of ADARSA.

In the upcoming days, we would like to upgrade our management information system both for the implementation of our activities and communication with supporting agencies and different service providing authorities. This process will also help the members to identify trends and as well as the importance of the work for further implementation. Finally I convey my all good wishes to the Donors, the members, stake holders and well wishers.
